Review:Dhamarukam--Asura Samharam..Sivoham!!

Self proclaimed as King, Nagarjuna returns with another mythological after the touch and go Shirdi Sai.After a lot of hype and hoopla that preceded Dhamarukam's release date, the movie released in record number of theatres all over the world.Rather than being excited for the fact that the movie is a socio-fantasy,people found it close for the re-entry of Anushka and Nagarjuna in different roles than usual.Lets get into the plot and how it went with the masses.......

Story: Born as an ardent devotee of Shiva,Mallikarjuna (Nagarjuna) finds his solace and truth in Lord Shiva from his childhood. He is accompanied by his parents ,a sibling and grandparents.A series of accidents take place and he loses all his family except for his sister. From then on Malli becomes anti-shivaite and hates people who utter the word shiva. On the other hand Andhakasura (Ravi Shankar) eyes on conquering the panchabhoothas under his control....Asura gets to know the fact that his goal would be met only if he marries a girl born in a auspicious planetary time and kill her.Maheshwari(Anushka) happens to be that one lucky unlucky girls who happens to be born in the auspicious planetary time and Malli is destined to marry Maheshwari. Will Andhakasura win the world or Nagarjuna plans his time against Shiva should be watched on screen.

Screen Presence: This is not any rocket science for Nagarjuna,as there is nothing new and nerve breaking aspect in the story line.Nagarjuna was successful in being a staunch devotee of Shiva and maintained a perfect physique even at this point of time.Anushka wasn't that great and lost her charm and had many brownie points through out her performance.Ravishankar was outstanding in his role. The major drawback of the film was casting....none of them fitted their roles perfectly(except Ravi) rather it was hard to believe they were essayinhg their respective roles.Charmee ahhh i'm not talking about her..please!!Item songs should be done by beauties...i mean glam dolls.Charmee is too stout to be called as a glam doll. One Single Word--YUKK!Prakash Raj's role was very sub-dued and pretty interesting.Rest of the casting came and went...God knows why!

Screen Plot and Play:Director Sreenivas Reddy chose very off beat subject for himself, for a guy who is pretty comfortable with comedy stuff socio-fantasies sound too odd..In a hurry to cook a screenplay he etched it with unnecessary comedy scenes that tested peoples patience. He had a single line plot and wasn't successful in stretching it in right manner. The first half can completely be omitted except few introduction scenes where extensive visual effects were made use of.The second half was a killer with all the required jinx and plot.Visual effects in second half were too good, the word sivoham was very well stressed and the vibe was felt in the second half just before the movie got completed.

Overall:The music by Devi Sri is pretty decent and the RR and BGM was good and loud at times. The comedy scenes could have been neglected. There are things that make you sit in your seats in this film, one happens to be the extensive visual effects and the other one is Ravi Shankar. The plot doen't test too much upon many things, its a touch and go in many cases. There wasn't any need for a romantic song in the movie when there is no romance planned for the lead cast but the director has opted for a song and not etching the romantic track. The film would have been much better if the romance and comedy timing was totally neglected or the other way round even.

Verdict:Can be watched once..Only second half i would say :-P
