Dookudu Audio Review-->Drums and NO Cacophony!

After his 'Khaaleja' Superstar Prince Mahesh is yet again back with his action packed 'Dookudu' which is tentative to release in the late august or september.A mixture of rare talents are coming together this time, promising a feast to the fans the unit released the audio yesterday at shilpakala vedika amidst a huge gala crowd witnessing the event.Thaman after grabbing successive hits is again back with Dookudu.Lets see how this album turned out to be...

1.Nee Dookudu-Shankar Mahadevan-Vishwa
We know Thaman is best at his drums which some feel to be cacophonic , but in Dookudu you feel the beat of the drums rather than the usual Thaman style.Sung by Shankar Mahadevan this song is filled with energy and the lyrics add the required flavor to the song. The drums you hear in initial stages makes you glued to the song for hours together.Vishwa on the other side has penned in the lyrics to set in for each note. The chorus needs a worth mention , you'll love it!!The rap worked at places, this is the Intro song in the film and of-course it surely is one of the chartbusters.Rachha.

 2.Guruvaaram-Rahul Nambiyar-Rama Jogayya Shastri
OMG!!I have never expected a melody from Thaman for the kind of acoustics he has in his studio. He has outdone himself in this song.A soft melody and you know the tinge of pepper in Rahul's voice!!Surely a nice number in the album and of course in Thaman's history. You get acquainted to the song on repeated listening.RamJo of-course needs a worth mention for whatever he writes and this one is no exeption.

3.Chulbuli Chulbuli-Karthik,Rita-Rama Jogayya Shastri
I heard Thaman say 'I dont generally copy songs, if so i inspire' ,true to the statement i guess he got inspired by Rahman's 'Kilimanjaro'.The BGM is quite similar to that of Kilimanjaro and even is shot in that manner.Though it is inspired you'll like it as the additional vocals and percussions were well set for this track.Karthik is absolutely stunning with his voice and Rita carries it on a higher note.On a whole a peppy and familiar number in the album.

4.Poovai Poovai-Ramya.N.S,Navin Madhav-Rama Jogayya Shastri
Whatte voice Ramya is having , she has outdone and dominated all other singers in the album. The voice was husky and oozing with energy. You'll love the track to the core.Once again Ramjo penned it with extreme care and the lyrics were funny and superb. With a woofer box or a headset , i would just say put on volume and sit back.

5.Dethadi-Ranjith,Divya-Bhaskarabhatla
And another mass and peppy number in the album .Im not at all getting bored listening to thaman's mass numbers. They generally carry a "Thakka thakkare thakara thakko" kinda feel in them. And this one is no different.Ranjith's voice was too good and even Divya's.I personally loved this song to the core .There's no cacophony in this instrumentation ,the lyrics were adultish i would say.

6.Adhara Adhara-Koti,Karthik,Ramjo,Ranina Reddy,Rita-Rama Jogayya Shastri
And we end the album with a song that includes the general marriage rituals in a peppy manner. This song poses a lot of singers Koti,Karthik,Ranjith....etc.All went good with the song but the song may not go well with the masses.Overall 5 good songs and one mediocre song to end the album.

On a Whole Thaman comes up with a target audience funda and chooses to drum as much as he can, though this album sounds quite different from his past albums.

VERDICT:Feast for Fans and of-course who love Mass n Peppy numbers.

  2. Yes we generally do in every Thaman Album!!Even mani and DSP copy their orchestration almost for every film. Its not about copying but improving upon their orchestration as each one is fixed for their own style and flavor.I am not saying what you said is wrong but we lack it:( I guess he experimented by bringing back the days of R D Burman and Chakravarti in Poovai Poovai!!He needs appreciation for the percussion and vocals in most songs!Surely this album doesn't carry for years together!!
